THE PRACTICE

The work unfolds through 3 movements

This is NOT self-improvement. It’s learning to remain connected to yourself while living a real life.

Most people are taught how to function; Very few are taught how to remain connected to themselves while functioning.

The first movement begins by noticing:

  • exhaustion

  • overgiving

  • over-explaining

  • emotional disappearance, and

  • the quiet ways people abandon themselves to survive

Four practices are listed below that are simple ways to strengthen attention and stay with yourself everyday.

Field Notes

Carry a notebook or use your phone.

Write down what you notice during the day without analyzing it

  • When did your body tighten?

  • What left you drained?

  • What made you feel alive?

  • The goal is not understanding, it’s noticing.

Attention Mapping

Track where your energy expands and where it collapses

  • Notice where your energy expands and where it collapses.

  • Which people, places, activities, and commitments leave you feeling more present?

  • Which leave you feeling absent from yourself?

  • Make two columns, one for people and other for spaces

  • Write, write, write

Interrupting Explanation

Notice where you explain or justify yourself unnecessarily

  • Pause before doing it

  • Did the pause take time to process? Why?

  • How long was your pause?

  • Say as little as possible. Words are unnecessary here.

  • Observe what happens internally

Decisive Small Act

Stop explaining yourself once this week where you normally would.

  • Notice how many times you say “sorry”

  • Notice what changes when you stop

  • Pause. Listen. Respond differently.

  • Notice what changes.

Continue the Practice

The remaining movements deepen position, meaning,
and the capacity to remain with oneself, without escape. These are shared through a guided application process. This work requires honesty, attention, and participation.

Notes from the Practice

Short observations, No motivation,
No instruction, Only precision.
